Mist (Juniper) is the next big thing on the Wireless market. The product is based on a modern Microservices cloud architecture, what really makes a difference! Mist has built the first AI-driven WLAN, making Wi-Fi predictable, reliable, and measurable while delivering amazing indoor location experiences. They are innovative on the indoor location market with their integrated BLE antennas and Virtual beacons. Another big thing is there api-first approach. This is very important for our Wiflex solutions.
API-first approach
The most WiFi vendors have a management platform and create api’s afterwards. So mostly the api’s are very limited. Mist has done things differently. Their whole system is api-based and they created the management platform based on the api’s. That’s a whole different approach and we really like this. Another feature Mist has is the possibility to create unique PSK’s. So without the use of 802.11x (radius) you can do segmentation (different vlans), create secure personal keys,…. This feature is ideal for secure BYOD, guest and IOT solutions. The only difficulty is to manage these unique psk’s and keep them in sync.
To automate the management of the unique psk’s you need a central user database and api’s. The biggest central user databases are Google Gsuite, Azure AD and Office365. That’s why we created a Cloud BYOD solution based on Mist and Google Gsuite/Azure AD/Office365.
How does the BYOD solution work?
It’s important that users can onboard there BYOD devices by themselves on an easy and secure way. With no extra work for the IT department! They need to get an unique password in the right vlan based on their security group in Azure/Gsuite/Office365. When they leaves the organization the unique password needs to be deleted automatically.
This is possible with Wiflex and you can set it up in 15 minutes. You can make an integration with Mist very easily by entering the site id and the Access token. Then you need to make the integration with the platform of your choice (Gsuite/Azure ad/Office365).
In our portal you can link the security group of Azure/Gsuite/Office365 to the right vlan. See screenshot below. You can also chose to block certain user groups. Our portal is fully cloud-based and multi-tenant so you can manage all your customers from one platform.
Users can onboard themselves easily trough a user friendly portal. You can share this portal on you intranet or bring an open ssid online that will redirect to this portal. We only use the open ssid to get the secure and unique password. Only users from the organization can login.
After they login we check if the user has rights to get a secure WiFi password and which vlan we need to assign. If he has the rights he will get his WiFi password. He can easily onboard his mobile phone by scanning in the qr code. For his laptop he can click the button “copy password” and connect with the secure WiFi network.

We made a connection with different PMS software solutions. When the guests check-in they get an unique and secure WiFi password linked to their hotelroom. Your guests can cast all their favorite programms (Netflix, Youtube and Spotify) to the television without installing an app.
